A lot will depend on who his wings are and how much power play time he potentially sees.

Agreed I see 45-50 which I would be real happy with. As long as he helps that third line with production which has been a black hole for this team for years I’m good. Filppula did a pretty good job but I couldn’t see resigning him I’m happy Pageau is here.

He averages 34 points per 82 games in his career. This was a big overpay for a very average player. Good luck.

Yea what makes the signing good to me is he is solid on d and can play in both special teams and is good in the circle. Of course I want him to score a lot but if he and del colle and maybe bailey can play good d and stop other teams from scoring I'd be very happy. I say bailey as I think wahlstrom will be in the top 6 very soon

I think he will definitely see pp time most likely on the second unit though

I agree with Upstate. Pageau was signed, because of his ability as a 2-way center. If he can neutralize the other team's top center, he's done his job. Points are a bonus. I think he'll end up in the high 30s, but I'm ok with that if he's solid on the defensive side.

I think Pageau is just hitting his peak. I hope he help put the Isles over the top.

Agree with your assessment, Lou paid way to much for this player. This will work if they can get some of that wasted age and salary off there books and get some speed and youth. But unfortunately Lou does not manage that way. This team has a long way to go to compete against the Tbays, Bruins, Pens and few more which sucks. Be interesting to see how the Barzal signing goes. With the amount of cash being spent on aged players like Lee, J-G P, Ladd, Clutter et al, I see a bridge deal of 7 as the number. If Lou was not as ancient as Mr Fishchips he would sign this player to a max deal as he is the right age and has talent.

Agree with most of what everyone has said above... he's a versatile player that can be very useful in many situations. He can also slot higher at center in case of an injury and has shown he can produce with a higher responsibility. Also, he was a pending free agent. Sometimes you gotta spend a little more to get. Who would have been the next best center? Spezza? Had the season gone on as a normal season would have with normal off season activity, chances are he would have gotten an even bigger contract. I think it was more of a potentially slight over-payment than a potentially gross over-payment. Then again, he could flourish and make it a great contract. Let's hope!

I look at his upside outweighing his cost. JG you are paying for the now. He is without a doubt the best face-off man on the team. PP and PK skills. Could easily move into top 6. To say you have overpaid is a mistake. Gives you flexibility.

Agree w/ NYIFan4Life all depends on his wingers & TOI, but one thing for sure is that Pageau is damn good on FO's!

Agree Upstate.
I think he’s exactly what this team needed. We have been a bit weak down the middle since PJ Boy ran home to Mommy.
When it was rumored he was available I was hoping Lou would go out and get him and sign him which he did.
Hoping he gets over 50 points next year.

Hope everyone is hanging in there health wise and financially.

Who sad replacing JT with Pageau you (frank)ing Moron. We have a #1 Center in Barzal and needed a shutdown 3rd line center good on the draws.
We are building a complete team that covers all Defense and Offensive elements that make a well rounded team unlike your top heavy PO winning deficient Leafs team.

So:
